Hexikid
Huge vulgar beetles the size of bin lorries, hexikid were genetically engineered by The Nascenti as street cleaners, road clearers, and heavy duty dray vehicles for virtually any purpose involving massive force and bulk. Hexikid are an intelligent species, able to access the hive mind, but their remit involves little need for creative thought.
The Hexikid moves slowly. This is almost the entire problem. You expect something that moves slowly to be easy to avoid. You are walking in the dark, on a wet surface, in murk-fog, and the Hexikid is the colour of the road it is cleaning.
The mandibles have not, to my knowledge, been documented attacking living tissue unprovoked. The hazard is the fall. The surfaces they favour are wet. You are carrying equipment. The Hexikid will continue cleaning the road with complete equanimity while you work out which bones you've broken.
Field note: they are slower going uphill. This is one of the few useful things I have learned.
