Squeeker
A mouse, and before you wonder why a mouse gets a full entry and ten points of toughness on top of it, understand that Hellsborough's mice do not behave like off-world mice in any respect beyond size and shape.
A squeeker nest works as a single distributed ear. Individually deaf to most of what matters -- their hearing's unremarkable, nothing like a bat's -- but a squeeker colony passes vibration through a network of gnawed tunnels that runs under half of Hellsborough's older streets, and what one squeeker feels through its feet, the whole colony feels within seconds. I have watched a colony evacuate a cellar a full ten minutes before I heard the demolition crew two streets over start work.
They're not aggressive and barely worth fighting -- the toughness is in the colony surviving being fought, not in any one mouse standing its ground. Stamp on a squeeker and you've achieved nothing except telling the tunnel network exactly where you're stood.
The the organic network seems to use squeeker tunnels as a secondary route where the fungal one hasn't reached yet, which either means the mice were recruited or means the two systems grew toward each other independently and nobody's noticed they're now doing the same job.
Field note: a sudden, coordinated squeeker exodus from a cellar or drain is worth taking as seriously as any other alarm. They usually know first.
