Windstrom, and the trails out past Mam Tor were busier than they had any right to be. The DPDC runs an advert on the hivemind, all aerial moorland and uplifting music, "discover the magic, experience the adventure", and it works, because the fencing does the rest. Signs on the wire explain that the fencing is there to keep animals out rather than to keep you in, which is the sort of sentence only ever written by somebody who has thought carefully about the alternative phrasing. Walk the ridge from Back Tor to Lose Hill and you will not see one xin, one Dyapnid, nor anything else with an opinion about you; The Nascenti have segregated their leisure space beautifully, and their human stock stroll through it in walking boots, delighted. Cross the barbed wire and nobody stops you, because the freedom is entirely genuine and the consequences are entirely yours. I keep the photograph from my psycmask because on the greyer days I can almost persuade myself the fence is there for my benefit.
