Soulscrapers are what the murk makes when it wants to keep something and has no body of its own to keep it in: no Soulprint, no name, only an appetite and a wall of standing stones with a stolen memory hung on each. You know one is working before you see it, because the grit reads as people who are not there, a signature that belongs to no living Soulprint on the DPDC's books. Stand too long in its circle and it stops attending to what it already holds and starts reading you, wearing at your murk-sense and unpicking your memory both at once, and getting better at both the longer you stay. You cannot kill one; there is nothing there to kill, only echoes to pull loose and let go to murk the way they should have years ago. Mnemvore, the oldest of them, wears nine and taught the rest how, and there are more circles on the high moor than anyone has counted.
