Every plant in Hellsborough and The Dark Peak — trees, grass, lichen, the moss underfoot — reports a heat signature to its nearest sub-station, and the fungal network below ground carries that data to the Nascenti for monitoring all movement. What the Nascenti have not disclosed, and may not know, is that the fungal AI was not created by them: it infected them. They believe they programmed it; the more accurate framing is that they are its administrative interface, which is a distinction that has not yet inconvenienced anyone and eventually will inconvenience everyone.

Loxley-Kraken: believed to dwell under the bridge at Hellsborough corner — that most liminal of places where the crossroads, the river, and the bridge occupy the same space simultaneously. It takes passersby from the street above, drowns them in the Loxley river, stores the bodies until decomposed, and sucks the meat from the bones, which wash downriver to the confluence of the Dun and, some believe, all the way to the Ripperthroat mountains where they are met by Dunlockslyn. This is logged in the HiveMind under "cryptids of the murk." I have not crossed that bridge at murkneet since.

Hagibrack's domain — the great bog — is the spiritual home of the xin, permanently populated by five of the twenty-five communities while the rest are scattered across the deserted villages of The Dark Peak. The horde numbers approximately fifty thousand in total, which is modest by off-world standards and more than sufficient by any other measure. The yearly games are held in the swamp bowl and serve social, political, and judicial functions simultaneously; Gorsithorn had arranged for Van and Pandora to be thrown to the Dyapnids as the centrepiece event.

Wadsley Common operates as an adventure location in precisely the way an unfenced upland common with a buried crust-cache and several competing creature populations does: proceed quickly, accept that the scrufftails have not cleared out, and note that the eastern drystone wall leans slightly in the direction the rooters habitually travel — which is information, if you know what to do with it. The smeln may or may not be present. The common, by my account, remembers the rooters. It is not clear the common has stopped remembering anything.
